Linda Lee Hopkins

Linda Lee Hopkins à Jazz à Juan le 19 juillet

Linda, you already know her, without really knowing her. In 2002, she was the voice behind DJ Bob Sinclar’s hit The Beat Goes On, and she directed Gospel pour 100 voix, an XXL choir that filled stadiums several times over. This wide range is consistent with her approach to music: a matter of emotions and feeling, without labels.

A deep love that dates back to her childhood, when her father’s amateur gospel group rehearsed at home and the microphone was a hairbrush in front of the mirror. As a young adult, winning a singing competition in a club in Pennsylvania gave her confidence. She had a gift for embodying songs and captivating audiences. She then moved into musical theatre and settled in Paris in 1991. It was a godsend for France, its studios and its touring artists. Nino Ferrer, Bernard Lavilliers, Gloria Gaynor, Percy Sledge, Ray Charles and Ben l’Oncle Soul all called on Linda’s expertise. With ‘Spirit & Soul’, Linda has released her first truly personal album, drawing on the rich roots of African-American music and her own personal experiences. Her upcoming concerts promise to be particularly intense encounters. (Summary of a text by Nicolas TEURNIER).

The concert will begin at 9 pm, following the readings of ecumenical texts
