Banksia Trio, composed of three of Tokyo’s most sought-after musicians, is considered one of the most dynamic and acclaimed ensembles on the contemporary Japanese jazz scene. Taking its name from an Australian plant that thrives on fire, the trio is famous for its blend of explosive improvisation and lyrical beauty.
Since its inception in 2017, the group, with its unique and innovative sound, has released four acclaimed albums, including MASKS and a live recording, which showcase a deep musical dialogue and ever-evolving soundscapes.
In 2025, it completed its first Australian tour, marked by sold-out concerts at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
