Sophye’s vocal chords and those of her harp unite, rising against a background of graceful song and a bass-drum rhythm with a precious and subtle groove. A harmony further enhanced by an original repertoire deeply inspired by soul.
Passionate about vocal harmony, she puts her voice to the service of projets such as the Oshun choir and the Afrofeminist singing group Maré Mananga. Collective creation as well as improvisation and involving the body in working the voice and the music are the very essence of her approach with the different vocal ensembles that she accompanies. Sophye Soliveau often performs with the audience, which she transforms into a giant singing body. From there, collective magic emanates, merging with the power of her universe.
