Kareen Guiock Thuram

Kareen Guiock-Thuram à Jazz à Juan le 17 juillet

Kareen Guiock Thuram, voice / Kevin Jubert, piano / Rody Cereyon, bass / Tilo Bertholo, drums

Kareen Guiock Thuram, one voice, two passions, two careers: music and journalism.

She was always a singer and after 10 years at the head of TV programme 12:45, then managing the programmes 66 MINUTES and 66 MINUTES GRAND FORMAT on channel M6, in 2023 she released her first album Nina, a tribute to the immense Nina Simone, reinterpreting her classics with emotion, sincerity and simplicity.

Nina Simone, whom she met during her teens, embodies for her a model of strength, struggle and class and was to have a powerful influence on her own story. With this tribute to Nina Simone, Kareen Guiock Thuram explores the most intimate side of her journey. Far from wanting to imitate the legend, she draws deep inspiration from the artist, whose personal and artistic journey fuels her own.

Twenty years after Nina Simone’s death, her heritage lives on, passed on and enhanced by a new voice (hailed by critics and the public, with sold-out concerts throughout the land and many prestigious festivals), like the handover of a torch.
