Drumsville!

In November 2018, The New Orleans Jazz Museum premiered the exhibition «Drumsville! Evolution of the New Orleans Beat.». This exhibition has been one of the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s most visited exhibits. It stands to reason, since New Orleans is known for the rhythms that have developed music worldwide, from jazz to bounce and beyond. This exhibition examines the history of drumming and the evolution of musical traditions in New Orleans since the 18th century. From the first African instruments, through the improvised ones made with household objects, to the actual drum sets of master drummers, the Drumsville! exhibit highlights one of the best-known aspects of the city’s music — its percolating rhythmic legacy.
