Sėlēnę

Mélanie Badal – Cello, voice / Blaise Cadenet – Guitar / Mahesh Vingataredy – Drums
In the realm of rebellious music, Sėlēnę reigns over powerful and psychedelic, electric, dreamlike, and surreal worlds. Sėlēnę is a blend of character(s). Forged on Réunion Island. Mélanie Badal, a cellist, originated this classical repertoire, joyfully disrupted since 2018 by electroacoustic accents. Guitarist-alchemist Blaise Cadenet seamlessly integrated into the project’s intricate patterns. This is an ideal playground for Mahesh Vingataredy, a drummer and percussionist with vast experience. In Sėlēnę, daring blends with fragile, the frontal vigor of effects with the nostalgia of melodies, played or sung, where some wounds subtly surface. Sėlēnę is a sensitive trio where the whole world becomes a nation, where poetry erases borders. In rhythm.
This concert is offered as part of Jazz Migration, a support programme for young jazz and improvised music musicians, run by the AJC with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the BNP Paribas Foundation, SACEM, ADAMI, SPEDIDAM, CNM, SPPF and the French Institute.
