Oriental-sounding classical jazz
Wajdi Riahi, piano/ Basile Rahola, double bass/ Pierre Hurty, drums
Wajdi Riahi’s trio formed in Brussels in 2020. Following a proposal from the Spanish label Fresh Sounds Records, they recorded and released a first repertoire in 2022: Mhamdeya, named after the Tunisian city where Wajdi grew up and left at the age of 20 to settle in Brussels and study jazz. Very well received by the press in Belgium and France, the album allowed the trio to tour and create very strong links between the musicians, both human and artistic, palpable on stage.
The trio is currently preparing a second album. The young pianist Wajdi Riahi wants to assert his style as a jazz musician with Arab roots.
